One tablespoon of Childs Elixir is equal to around a dozen sugary gummies. c. European elderberries, according to U. of Missouri tests, lack much of the good stuff American Elderberry has, and we think the taste is hard to swallow unless disguised. d. Childs is pure elderberry nectar pressed with the same type of hydraulic cold press used for olive oil. Others heat up a vat of tap water, add a bucket of dried elderberries, strain and call it elixir. So wrong! e. Herbs in syrups and elixirs are fillers to cut back on how much actual elderberry is present—elderberry is what costs, so putting herbs in is just an attempt at slick marketing, but all it does is decrease effectiveness. f. Water—one seller cut her price in half by adding water and changing her dose to 2 tablespoons.
